symbolic picture partnership

Dotphoton, Haelixa and CompPair have inked deals with established companies including camera manufacturer Hamamatsu, textile machinery specialist Rieter, and Decathlon, the world's largest sporting goods retailer. The partnerships will help the start-ups to scale faster.

Modern microscopy, drug discovery and cell research are among the many applications that rely on the highest quality image data. Dotphoton, an industry-leading raw image compression company, provides innovative image data compression solutions which enable efficiency and reliability of large image data processing in critical applications. Hamamatsu, a renowned scientific camera manufacturer providing the ultimate image quality needed for scientific research and the pharmaceutical industry, capitalises on Dotphoton’s technology.

The two companies have formed a partnership to enable researchers to capture and preserve higher volumes of quality data and make the most of modern processing methods, including AI-based image processing. Hamamatsu’s ORCA cameras are compatible with Dotphoton’s Jetraw software. Thanks to this new partnership, Hamamatsu will be able to support customers in their data management, an additional benefit of the high sensitivity, fast readout speeds, and low noise delivery of its scientific CMOS cameras.

Haelixa and Rieter: marking fibers during yarn production
Haelixa, the DNA traceability solution based on patented DNA technology for full textile supply chain transparency from source to retail, has joined forces with Rieter, the world’s leading supplier of systems for short-staple fiber spinning. The two aim to offer an innovative concept of marking fibers during yarn production. The solution addresses the increasing demand for reliable traceability data. It provides forensic evidence of the origin of textile materials, which is becoming increasingly important given the growing demand for organic or recycled raw materials.

Combining Rieter’s expertise in processing short-staple fibers with Haelixa’s solution will create more transparent and resilient supply chains with a solution that seamlessly integrates into existing equipment. Haelixa and Rieter have already completed joint in-house testing and validation, resulting in the launch of an automated application of the marker in Rieter spinning systems in liquid form.

CompPair and Decathlon: shoe sole with recovered fabric
CompPair and Decathlon have successfully completed an industrial proof-of-concept (POC) with CompPair’s HealTech, a new prepreg enabling the production of composite structures that can heal damage on-site in 1 minute and be recycled more efficiently. The goal of this POC was to close HealTech’s recycling loop on a 3-dimensional monolithic product, representative of many sporting goods and relevant to both companies’ activities. Specifically, the companies achieved their goals by producing a bicycle shoe sole with virgin HealTech glass prepregs, recycling the fabric ply by ply, and producing the same sole with 87% of recycled pre-cut fibers.

Through this work, CompPair’s recycling process demonstrated the reclaim of continuous fibers with more than 80% of their original flexural strength. In addition, the life cycle analysis showed the benefits of shifting from a conventional incineration disposal method to a recycling one, potentially reducing mineral resource use by 72% and CO2 emissions by 13%. CompPair and Decathlon are now seeking industrial partners to refine the recycling channels and upscale the recycling process.
