Splint Invest offers a platform for alternative investments in real-world assets such as rare whisky, fine wine and luxury watches. The startup has impressed the Venture Kick jury with its solution and won CHF 150’000 to support the next growth phase.

An alternative investment is a financial asset that does not fall into one of the conventional investment categories, such as stocks, bonds, and cash. While the market is broad, individual investors currently have no access to alternative investments due to entry barriers, lack of knowledge, experience, and storage possibilities. The asset is often too costly, and the market is illiquid. These issues create inequality.

Aurelio Perucca (CEO), Alexander Bernauer (CTO), Mario von Bergen (CIO), and Ashley Puckett (CMO) built the Splint Invest platform to tokenise the ownership of real-world assets automatically and effortlessly. Pre-selected, trusted suppliers can thus tokenise their investment-grade assets, including luxury and rare items. The platform offers wine, whiskey, cars, and watches and will soon expand to include real estate, agriculture, private equity, and collectable art offerings. The platform has 11 partners currently offering tokenised assets and ten additional partners waiting to be onboarded.

Through the Splint Invest app, individual investors get access to the assets and the possibility to acquire digital fractions of alternative investments, starting from €50. Investors can expect stable high returns over time with little to no correlation with conventional assets. On the startup’s secondary market, individual investors can also trade the Splints, solving the problem of illiquidity. So far more than 18000 users have downloaded the app in the Apple and Google stores.

Splint Invest’s product includes two main components: the app’s backend, which combines smart contracts and a distributed ledger to organise the marketplace, and a unique front end, which allows individual investors to navigate within all investment opportunities.

The startup, which employs 17 people today, will use the CHF 150,000 Venture Kick award to continue the growth journey and onboard additional individual investors. Additionally, Splint Invest will use the funds to update the app and allow investments in different currencies, like CHF and USD.
