FIF Funding for three new Geneva projects

2023 has started strong for three Geneva based startups that have been awarded the Fongit Innovation Fund (FIF). This time one growth loan, one seed loan and one grant have been awarded to Plair, Endotelix, and Dr Beat Walpoth respectively for their incredible innovations.

The FIF is the instrument for fostering innovation and scale up of promising companies from the Canton of Geneva at the service of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The FIF is supported by the State of Geneva, the Geneva Chamber of Commerce (CCIG), the United Nations International Trade Center (ITC) and United Nations Environment agency. Last week, three beneficiaries received the Fongit Innovation Fund.

Growth loan of 300,000 CHF awarded to Plair SA

Plair SA, a University of Geneva spin off, has been awarded a Growth loan for more than 300,000 CHF. The company specializes in developing, manufacturing, and commercializing professional systems for preventive environment monitoring, utilizing proprietary state-of-the-art technology that forms the foundation of their intelligent detectors. These detectors provide high-quality, continuous environmental measurements in all weather conditions.

Plair SA was founded by two PhDs in Physics from the University of Geneva, who are experts in aerosol measurements and fluorescence spectroscopy. They have developed a new and innovative method for continuously analyzing single airborne particles in real-time. The detection capabilities of their devices span a wide range, including identifying allergens such as pollen, fungi, air pollution, bacteria, and virus aerosols, among others.

Seed loan of 100,000 CHF awarded to Endotelix Diagnostics Sàrl

Endotelix Diagnostics Sàrl, a Swiss medtech start-up and spin-off from the University of Geneva, has been granted a Seed loan of 100,000 CHF. Endotelix is dedicated to providing fast, sensitive and reliable solutions for Anti Phospholipid Syndrome (APS), including diagnostic tests and therapies. The APS is the leading cause of stroke and heart attacks among young people, deep vein blood clots, and pregnancy losses.

Grant of CHF 50,000 awarded to Dr Beat Walpoth

Dr Beat Walpoth from the University of Geneva has been awarded a CHF 50,000 Grant for his pioneering research work in developing novel coatings for cardiovascular devices. Working currently on a startup project, Dr Walpoth, with over 40 years of experience in cardiovascular surgery and research, is a distinguished expert in the field, with a particular emphasis on medical devices, biomaterials, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine.
