Mathieu Hagen

Mathieu Hagen has taken over the position of CEO in Gamaya succeeding Yosef Akhtman. Bringing more than 20 years of experience, alongside strategic leadership and excellence, coupled with his passion for innovation, he will help to grow the Agritech startup.

Gamaya developed a crop-specific technology that relies on hyperspectral imagery analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning to capture and interpret imagery to give farmers information about the state of their fields and crops.

The startup announced the appointment of Mathieu Hagen to the position of CEO to lead the company through the next phase of its growth; commercialising its technology and becoming a key contributor to sustainable agriculture and improving the efficiency of crop production worldwide.

“I am excited by the opportunity to build on the great foundation and momentum achieved by the Gamaya team and lead the company through the next stage of its strategic development,” said Mathieu.

Mathieu Hagen is an entrepreneurial business leader with over 20 years of experience in multiple industries across Europe, the USA and the ‘BRICS’ countries. He holds an MSc degree in Micro-technics and Opto-electronics from EPFL, an eMBA foundation program from IMD and an MSc degree in geostrategy from CEDS. Before joining Gamaya, Mathieu ran his own management consulting firm focusing on operational transformation, business development and strategy execution for multinational companies. Besides, over the past ten years, he has been actively involved in startup coaching (at EPFL, CTI, BAS, Capital Proximité) by supporting founders with his deep business knowledge.

Mathieu succeeded Yosef Akhtman who will continue focusing on building out the company’s data science capabilities, securing technical partnerships and expanding its IP as Chief Scientist.
