New sorting machine

Touchless Automation, the pioneer in contactless micro handling, in partnership with Aatec, a Swiss manufacturer specializing in high tech machines, has launched Levio, a contactless automatic sorting machine that allows manipulation of fragile components in a delicate manner.

The technology in Touchless Automation’s machines allows manipulating components of any material, in a delicate way that was impossible until today. Its solutions suit the requirements of fragile and contamination-free components whose significant rejection rate results from standard contact-based pickup tools. Touchless Automation proposes unique machines for sorting, inspection and assembly applications, for the first time fully contactless.

In November 2018, the startup entered a partnership with Aatech, one of the leading manufacturers of high tech automatic machines in Switzerland. The goal was to leverage the two companies’ expertise for the development of a new sorting machine and to accelerate market entry. According to the startup, this is the first time it collaborated with a machine producer to speed up its market access. This partnership has already delivered valuable results – that is Levio, the new sorting machine. The new machine becomes second in the startup's product portfolio.

Maurizio Migliore, COO at Touchless Automation comments on the technology and capabilities of the product: "This machine allows manipulation of fragile components in a delicate way that has never been able before. Photonic dies can be so fragile and their surfaces so polished that conventional contact manipulation creates many issues. With contactless manipulation we solve all of them and, leveraging Aatec expertise, we have been able to come up with a completely innovative product, based on solid and proven automation technology."

The company will start accepting pre-orders for the machine in February 2019, with first deliveries scheduled in Fall, 2019.
