In order to be competitive in the market, startups and SMEs need expert, pragmatic business training that is short and intense. Based on these insights, EPFL Innovation Park just launched a promising series of high impact, growth trainings based on real life experiences. Startupticker had the opportunity to ask a few questions to Benedict Stalder and his team.

Why does it need Fast Track?
After operating the CTI Entrepreneurship Training courses for the last five years, with over 1’000 Business Creation and Business Growth participants and around 800 startups, we have accumulated more than 6’000 training and coaching hours from our 20+ handpicked trainers. The EPFL Innovation Park has built itself a reputation of delivering high impact courses to entrepreneurs in innovation and technology. We have realized that startups and SMEs need short, pragmatic and focused expert training, based on real life experiences, to outperform their competitors. Using these insights, EPFL Innovation Park is now launching the Fast Track Series of entrepreneurship training.  There are three formats of the Fast Track training programs. Fast Track Workshops is a half-day workshop with focus on a specific topic. Fast Track Academies are four half-days training programs with a sharp focus on one specific topic. The Fast Track Sales Academy is joining the already successful Startup Board Members Academy and the Exit Strategy for Startups Academy. The academies are tailored to nicely fit into the busy schedule of startups and SMEs. Lastly, Fast Track Programs are five full days training to be announced later in the year.

How do you position the training in Western Switzerland?
We focus on innovative and technology driven startups and SMEs that want to scale up by learning from the best companies that have already achieved success, many of which supported by EPFL Innovation Park. The Fast Track training programs are building on this rich accumulated experience and go beyond generic training. The short format of the courses and the focused content, as well as the specialized trainers for each content make the Fast Track training programs very unique - designed for the companies seeking outperformance in their sector.

What makes this new entrepreneurship training special?
We have built a very strong and experienced team of 20+ entrepreneurship trainers/coaches over the last five years. These trainers share their own experience of what works and what does not work in real life. This can be a real game-changer for the startups and SMEs that follow our courses -- this is what our past participants are telling us. In addition, all programs are highly interactive and include work on real cases. Finally we encourage networking to foster exchanges of experience between entrepreneurs.

What takeaways and benefits can the entrepreneurs attending the course expect?
The entrepreneurs will get sharp and pragmatic advice, enabling them to set up lean and efficient sales processes and tools. They will learn how to recruit, motivate and manage outperforming sales teams. Participants will also benefit from growing their network, getting help in opening closed doors and last but not least, learn from their peers during the training.

What kind of entrepreneur is the Fast Track training aimed at? What is the cost?
SMEs, Startup Founders and Managers from high potential companies aiming at learning the smart tricks of how to achieve fast, sustainable growth and outperform their competition - by a margin. As the name suggests, Fast Track courses are concise and highly focused. Thus the cost of this four half-day course is priced at an accessible CHF 800.-

When and where will the first training take place?
The first course, Fast Track Sales Academy will take place at EPFL Innovation Park starting March 15th and you can find detailed information and register here: https://www.fast-track.top/sales-academy .

What is your long term vision for the course?
EPFL Innovation Park is focused on addressing the needs of high potential companies. The aim is to help more companies achieve fast growth and becoming ‘scale ups’. Our programs apply to the companies hosted at the EPFL Innovation Park, but also to other SMEs and startups in the region. Additional Fast Track programs are in the making to be announced later in the year - stay tuned!
