Embotech is the prize winner of the mobility.Pioneers challenge 2018. The Zurich startup developed decision-making software solutions for autonomous systems. Part of their prize is a ticket to Brussels to meet the European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič.

Established as a spinoff of the Automatic Control Laboratory from ETH Zurich, Embotech offers a motion planning software solution that enables companies to transform the way they build and design optimal decision making systems such as autonomous machines. For the automotive industry, embotech’s solution is applicable at the post-sensing phase, controlling a self-driving car’s steering, braking, acceleration and parking in real time via calculations performed 50 times per second. The system is also applicable to any vehicle once the car’s unique specifications are input. Automotive giants including Renault and Volvo have already implementing embotech’s technology.

Thanks to their innovative solution, embotech was able to convince the judging panel at the Grand Prix stage of mobility.Pioneers Challenge Awards and event, which brings together automotive manufacturers, startups, and tech providers advancing mobility with artificial intelligence, automation, and connected car technologies.

As the winning startup out of the 20 selected startups and four finalists, embotech’s prize includes fast-track into the Pioneers Challenge Top 50 at Pioneers’18 in Vienna from 24th to 25th May. Additionally, embotech will travel to Brussels to meet with European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, who leads the EU’s Energy Union.

A comprehensive report of the Mbility.Pioneers award is available in their blog post.
