A two-week free leadership program in the US for startups

Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative is looking for startups from Europe to participate in the two weeks YTILI Fellowship program in the United States. Registration closes on 2 March.

The program is designed to empower entrepreneurs and innovators with the training, tools, networks, and resources they need to transform their societies and contribute more fully to economic development and job creation, security, and good governance in the region. The Fellowship Program is organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States. YTILI is sponsored by the U.S. Department of StateBureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

To qualify to application, startup founders/applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • between 24 and 35 years of age at application date;
  • are a citizen of the participating countries, but not a citizen of the US or not employed by the US government;
  • must have at least two (2) years of entrepreneurial/leadership experience with a startup business or social venture.

The YTILI Fellowship seeks to engage up to 100 leaders from Europe. If selected as an YTILI fellow, the U.S. government will cover all travel costs including flights and local transportation, housing costs and program participation costs.

An extensive program for YTILI Fellows
In 2018, 100 YTILI Fellows from Europe will expand their leadership and entrepreneurial experience through fellowships at businesses, institutions, and civil society organizations across the U.S. YTILI Fellows will accelerate their commercial and social ventures’ success and develop specific action plans to carry out upon return to their home countries.  YTILI Fellows will build networks, linkages and lasting partnerships to attract investments and support for their entrepreneurial ventures. YTILI 2018 Fellows will participate in the following activities: Two-week Fellowship; Washington, D.C., Orientation; Online Platform; European Summit; Additional Activities (grants, etc.).

Selection process
The YTILI Fellowship selection process is a merit-based open competition. After the deadline, all eligible applications will be reviewed and scored against the evaluation criteria outlined below. Following the initial review, U.S. Department of State and GMF will select a group of semi- finalists. All semi-finalists will be interviewed by the U.S. embassies or consulates in their home countries, either in-person or by video conference. Following the semi-finalist interview, U.S. Department of State and German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) will make the final selection of the fellows.
