Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative is looking for startups from Europe to participate in the two weeks YTILI Fellowship program in the United States. YTILI Fellowship is a series of professional development and leadership activities that are designed to support the growth and development of commercial and social business ventures. Registration closes on 6th February.
The program is designed to empower entrepreneurs and innovators with the training, tools, networks, and resources they need to transform their societies and contribute more fully to economic development and job creation, security, and good governance in the region. The Fellowship Program is organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States. YTILI is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
To qualify to application, startup founders/applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- between 24 and 35 years of age at application date;
- are a citizen of the participating countries, but not a citizen of the US or not employed by the US government;
- must have at least two (2) years of entrepreneurial/leadership experience with a startup business or social venture.
The YTILI Fellowship seeks to engage up to 100 leaders from Europe. If selected as an YTILI fellow, the U.S. government will cover all travel costs including flights and local transportation, housing costs and program participation costs.
An extensive program for YTILI Fellows
The up to 100 YTILI selected startups be invited to the United States to expand their leadership and entrepreneurial experience through a two-week fellowship at businesses, institutions, and civil society organizations across the U.S. They will also participate in the following: Washington D.C. program, Orientation webinar; Online Platform; European Summit; Additional Activities (grants, etc.).The wide range of activities will enable the cohort to accelerate their commercial and social ventures’ success and develop specific action plans to carry out upon return to their home countries.
The cohort of up to 100 fellows will be divided into two groups (Cohort 1, Cohort 2) that will travel separately to the United States for their fellowship experience. The full 2017 YTILI cohort will be connected virtually in pre-departure activities, an online platform and at the concluding summit. Further details are available on the website.
Selection process
The YTILI Fellowship selection process is a merit-based open competition. After the deadline, all eligible applications will be reviewed and scored against the evaluation criteria outlined below. Following the initial review, U.S. Department of State and GMF will select a group of semi- finalists. All semi-finalists will be interviewed by the U.S. embassies or consulates in their home countries, either in-person or by video conference. Following the semi-finalist interview, U.S. Department of State and German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) will make the final selection of the fellows.
