As part of a wider project to make news interactive, Aljazeera commenced collaboration with Koemei to produce its "Deconstructing Obama's States of the Union" analysis on the Aljazeera website. Koemei is a spin-out of the Idiap Research Institute and was founded in 2010.

For Aljazeera’s "Deconstructing Obama's States of the Union" analysis on http://www.aljazeera.com Koemei provided precise, word level time-stamping for AlJazeera's interactive transcripts that enable viewers to follow the transcript during playback and to instantly seek particular words in the video by either clicking on the text or using the search box.   Koemei's automatic processing meant that AlJazeera could make the analysis available in the shortest time possible after the address had been made by President Obama.  Koemei will soon be making time-stamping available as part of their self-service platform on koemei.com.
