New startup managers

Five Swiss startups have appointed new managers to different positions in their companies. With their more than 20 years of experience, they will support the startups through their growth phases, strengthen their position existing markets while reaching out for reach new ones and expand their networks.

Experienced managers are vital for startups because of their decisive role, extended networks and expertise. They support startups to reach their objectives and strive to yield far-reaching results in their positions. Recently, five startups – each with a different objective – have expanded their management teams. These include;

Ava – the medtech startup specialising in female reproductive health with their cycle-tracking sensor bracelet, appointed Maureen Cronin to the position of Chief Medical director. Cronin is a global expert and advocate for women's reproductive health who previously served as Head of Women´s Medical Affairs at Bayer Schering Pharma. Bringing her over 20 years of experience, Cronin is responsible for ensuring the medical safety and efficacy of Ava's existing and future products currently in development.

Coople – a just-in-time staffing platform has appointed Anthony Vaslin as the new Managing Director Switzerland. Vaslin was formerly employed at the online market place ricardo.ch, as Chief Revenue Officer and Head of Customer Operations. In his new management role, Vaslin is responsible for Coople’s operations throughout Switzerland and will bring his digital marketplace expertise to help accomplish the firm’s scaling ambitions.

SOPHiA GENETICS – the data driven medicine specialist that developed SOPHiA AI to facilitate accurate analysis and detection of all types of genomic variants, counts on Valentin Matillon who joined the team as Chief Financial Officer. Matillon brings over 20 years of experience in senior financial management positions in renowned technology organizations, including SITA, Hewlett-Packard and Electronic Arts. He will support SOPHiA GENETICS in revolutionizing the healthcare field, improving the prognosis of patients worldwide, and guide them through their growth and development journey.

Inositec – a developer of small molecule drugs based on inositol hexaphosphate (IP6), appointed Frits van Alphen as Chief Medical Officer. With 20 years of experience in clinical development and medical affairs, Van Alphen joined Inositec from Roche, where he headed the operational excellence team. He previously was Chief Medical Officer at Vifor Pharma, Head Medical Affairs Europe at Novartis as well as heading their Clinical Operations team in the Netherlands. Van Alphen has hands-on experience running Phase I to Phase IV studies across several therapeutic areas. As a physician, he worked several years in anesthesiology and intensive care. Inosite counts will benefit from this vast experience.

Balluun – as a specialist in B2B social commerce marketplaces aims to strengthen its presence in the United Kingdom. Hundreds of B2B and consumer shows across the UK are using Balluun's technology to offer buyers and sellers an efficient online B2B trading platform, an opportunity for further growth in the UK. To seize this opportunity, the startup has appointed David Schindler to the position of UK director. Schindler started his career at Reed Business Publishing and was responsible for the UK region at Reed Exhibitions for 14 years. Following the creating of his own B2B show, he has worked as a consultant for various launches, conferences, awards and exhibitions in the real estate, healthcare and solar industries.
