L-R: Miraex co-founders Nicolas Abelé, Clément Javerzac, and Karel Dumon

Venture Kick’s latest winner is Miraex, provider of photonic and quantum solutions for sensing, networking, and computing. The EPFL spinoff secured CHF 150’000 to deliver sensors to its first customers and scale up production.

Founded in 2019 by former Lemoptix CTO Nicolas Abelé, Clément Javerzac and Karel Dumon, Miraex develops and manufactures photonic and quantum solutions to detect anomalies in equipment for infrastructure located in hostile environments.

Miraex's solutions provide critical data and analytics to help businesses make data-driven maintenance decisions while avoiding downtime and increasing safety. They are applicable in industrial environments, including areas where standard electronic sensors would not work such as in high voltage, high pressure, extreme temperatures, and explosive atmospheres.

Its sensors are Micro Opto-Mechanical Systems (MOMS), capable of measuring various physical parameters such as vibrations, pressure, temperature, electromagnetic fields, and radio waves. The sensors are produced in-house and are supported by advanced signal processing and proprietary machine learning algorithms for data analysis.

The first product to launch soon
The startup’s pilot program is underway and the first qualified product will launch within the aerospace, industry 4.0, and automotive industries. The technology platform is also at the heart of Miraex quantum converter and transducer products, paving the way towards large-scale quantum networking and computing.

Having won the Venture Kick stage three program, Miraex team secured CHF 150,000 to accelerate the implementation of their solution in industrial applications. The roadmap plans to deploy digital sensing solutions to first customers as soon as spring 2021 while miniaturizing the full solution to enable mass production feasibility.

“Venture Kick helped us transition from exploring markets into scaling our solution. The program also gave us access to mentors and partners that inspired and helped us in our commercial development,” said  Javerzac, Miraex co-founder.
