Recently, Swiss startups have once again outcompeted their opponents in various competitions worldwide; DEPsys was awarded from Frost & Sullivan and Nanolive by The Scientist. Six insurtech startups were awarded at the Digital Insurance Agenda and three are among the Top 10 Global startups of IPIEC Global in China.

This edition presents the Swiss startups that have been recently awarded in global competitions or selected for awards.

DEPsys: Frost & Sullivan
The Zurich based startup developed the GridEye, is a simpler, more efficient and cheaper grid optimization solution that enables electricity operators to maintain operational excellence of their distribution grids despite increasing disruption from distributed energy sources. The GridEye platform digitalizes grid operation by integrating hardware and software components into various parts of the distribution grid. The company's model-less approach towards distribution grid analysis and control enables decentralized intelligence and allows it to perform real-time grid analysis. This approach, combined with funding from industry majors, makes DEPsys well-positioned to expand its innovative technology to new markets worldwide.

Based on its recent analysis of the European digital grid market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes DEPsys with the European New Product Innovation Award 2019 for developing an intelligent grid optimization platform.

Nanolive: The Scientist, New York
Every year The Scientist, a magazine for life sciences, identifies the latest and best technologies and techniques in the life-science industry. In the current edition, Nanolive’s microscope CX-A was selected among the Top 10 innovations of 2019. CX-A is the world’s first label-free live-cell imaging microscope. This technology builds on the 3D Cell Explorer design. The device is automated so that scientists can program various fields of view they would like to observe in a single slide or in 96-well plates, then walk away and let the machine do the work.

Five startups awarded at the Digital Insurance Agenda
The following startups are among the DIA Top 100 Insurtechs 2019: dacadoo (Health Scoring technology), IMburse (Payments as Service, Loyalty Programs, Collections solution), Mitipi (smart home technology and insurance), Unblu (conversational platform with chatbots), Vlot (integrated (white label) life risk analysis and coverage solutions). In addition two ventures from corporates were selected: Creadi (the first digital insurance platform and app in Switzerland) and Iptiq (Advocacy, Referral, and Influencer Marketing solutions).

Three tech startups in the Global Top 10 of IPIEC Global, China
Organized by WTOIP, IPIEC GLOBAL with its roots in China is a competition aimed at scouting distinguished global innovators and projects and connecting with entrepreneurial resources and partners in China. In the recent edition, three Swiss startups made it to the Top 10 including BioVersys, which is developing a new therapy for treating Antimicrobial infections won a prize in the third place. The other two startups include Flyability (inspection and exploration drone for indoor, inaccessible and confined spaces), ZüriMed (a repair technique for anterior cruciate ligament injury).
