The cybersecurity company CYSEC helps companies to securely launch innovative services faster and cost-effectively. Having been selected by Astrocast, the startup will now embark on a new project to build solutions to secure Astrocast’s global IoT network.

Based at the EPFL Innovation Park, Cysec is developing an all-in-one platform to provide companies with a secure environment for multi-application execution in the form of a physically enterprise-grade server appliance. The solutions enable companies to securely launch innovative services at a fraction of the time and cost of existing solutions. The focus areas are finance, space, IoT and Telecommunication.

Today, Cysec announced that it has been selected by Astrocast, the first satellite telecom-operator from Switzerland building a constellation of 80 nano-satellites to provide global, two-way IoT communication services at very low cost. The solutions are being built in partnership with the European Space Agency, Airbus, and Thuraya. In early 2020, Astrocast plans to launch 10 more satellites on board PSLV launch vehicles, which will allow it to enter into commercial service.

Astrocast has been working on securing its infrastructure with technologies such as AES-256 encryption of user data, authentication of data, access controls and separation of networks. As part of their collaboration, Cysec will design and implement architecture providing end-to-end security for Astrocast’s end customers, the 80 satellites of the constellation and the IoT terminals on ground and oceans.

Accordingly, Astrocast’s value proposition is at the crossroad between IoT and Space, two markets where CYSEC wants its products to become the new benchmark, allowing to easily and quickly implement cybersecurity for innovative services. The collaboration is, therefore, a strategic fit for both companies.
