Bcomp joins the list of winners of the “World Motorsport Symposium awards”. The startup won the award category “the winner of the Most Innovative New Motorsport Product of the Year” for their sustainable natural fibre composites.

The RACE TECH World Motorsport Symposium is a two-day event that brings together various international players in the motorsport and automotive engineering industry to discuss how technology will shape the future of their sport. This year’s focus topics included the growing technology trends with discussions on autonomous vehicles, the growing dependence on Artificial Intelligence as well as environmental aspects.

Since 2005, the event introduced “The World Motorsport Symposium awards” to recognize innovative solutions in the motorsport industry in three award categories: Dino Toso Racecar Aerodynamicist of the Year, Race Engine Design of the Year and the Don Burgoon Most Innovative New Motorsport Product of the Year. Among the previous winners are personalities such as Adrian Newey, former CTO of Redbull Racing, Andy Cowell, Managing Director of Mercedes AMG High-Performance Powertrain, and companies such as Performance Friction, Millers Oils, Bosch Motorsport, and Flybrid Systems.

This year the Swiss Startup Bcomp won the Don Burgoon Most Innovative New Motorsport Product as the year. The Fribourg based startup was honored for their high-performance semi-finished products made from natural fibre composites for the next generation. Bcomp’s fiber composites (AmpliTex and PowerRibs) replace aluminum, carbon- or glass fibre composites. Due to their sustainable nature, Bcomp’s materials have been applicable in the Sports and Leisure industry. Companies such as Volvo, Electric GTAutomobilies Gillet, and the European Space Agency have used and tested Bcomp’s AmpliTex and PowerRibs fibres.
