The ETH spin-off xorlab develops and sells machine intelligent email security solutions. Today, it announced a financing round of 1.9 million Swiss francs. Investors include Zürcher Kantonalbank and Hasler Stiftung.

The security platform ActiveGuard, developed by xorlab, helps companies regain trust in their email conversations by intelligently detecting and filtering known and unknown email attacks such as phishing attempts and malware attacks. The startup uses modern technologies such as machine learning and advanced algorithms to analyze attachments at runtime. «Cybercrime has become a major problem in our economy», says Antonio Barresi, CEO and cofounder.

Now, the Zurich-based startup announced that it had raised 1.9 million Swiss francs in a financing round including investors such as Zürcher Kantonalbank, Hasler Stiftung as well as veterans from the security and financial services industries. The capital will be used to accelerate xorlab’s market expansion.

Xorlab counts private bank Julius Bär, software provider Netcetera and an undisclosed top five Swiss bank among its customers.
