After being selected by the Swiss grid operator Romandie Energy and the Singapore power group, Depys has signed another agreement with the Irish power grid operator, EBS. DEPsys developed a smart grid solution, called GridEye, a network optimization platform for low-voltage grids.

Power grids face new challenges from decentralized generation and e-mobility that cannot be handled by a legacy grid. The traditional solution is grid reinforcement, which comes at a high cost. The latest development brings intelligent systems into the grid to balance generation and consumption in real-time while providing perfect visibility of the grid state.

Solutions like GridEye play a significant role in the Swiss energy strategy 2050, thanks to its ability to provide a decentralized generation, controllable loads and storage that allow for interaction of renewable energies in the grid. “GridEye is the ideal solution that integrates the current regulatory framework while reducing operating costs due to digitalization and automation”, said Michael De Vivo, CEO of DEPsys.

After four years of development and testing the GridEye, DEPsys is now commercialising its smart grid. In September, Romande Energie, one of the largest power grid operators in Switzerland serving over 300’000 customers, started deploying GridEye.

Following the announcement that the Singapore Power Group had signed a memoranda of understanding (MoU), DEPsys has signed another MoU with the Irish power grid operator ESB. The new MoU allows ESB to integrate DEPsys’ GridEye technology into their low-voltage distribution grid. This will help ESB to optimize its grid infrastructure, to increase the quality of the electricity delivered to the end-customers and finally adapt to changing generation and load situations in real-time.
