greenTEG is working on a ground-breaking technology that allows the development of a new generation of thermoelectric generators. But other products are possible too. The first product the company brings to the market is a sensor. The gSKIN Heat Flux Sensor of greenTEG is applied in thermal measurement and control systems where precision and speed are of central importance.

The now available gSKIN Heat Flux Sensor of greenTEG generates a voltage output (typically in the mV range) which is proportional to the heat flux passing through its surface. In order to determine the heat flux, the voltage output must be divided by a sensor-specific sensitivity. The main advantages of the gSKIN Heat Flux Sensor are:

  • High Sensitivity
  • Fast Response Time (1ms)
  • Minimal Invasiveness
  • Easy to use
  • Customizable design

The gSKIN Heat Flux Sensor finds application in R&D settings, or is integrated by OEMs in a variety of products.
In R&D applications, the gSKIN Heat Flux Sensor facilitates the development of materials and helps to increase the energy efficiency of processes and products. For instance, in the textile industry it can be used for the development functional wear or protective clothing for heat stressed environments.
For OEMs, the gSKIN Heat Flux Sensor adds decisive functionalities to their products. For example, it can be included in laboratory equipment to measure and control chemical processes. Due to the high sensitivity of the gSKIN Heat Flux Sensor it can be built into more complex sensor systems where it is used for non-invasive flow measurements and fluid detection. In laser power management, the sensor enables quicker and more precise characterization. greenTEG is currently developing OEM applications together with its industry partners and will enable first products in 2013.

In 2012, the sensor was in the beta prototype phase: four industrial and two research partners tested the sensor in different settings and applications. Based on the feedback of the partners, greenTEG further developed the now available gSKIN Heat Flux Sensor.

greenTEG was founded in 2009 and awarded with the CTI Start-up Label in 2010.
