Komp-Act Products
Since 2018, KOMP-ACT has designed and manufactured electric motion technologies for the automation industry to overcome the current performance limit. KOMP-ACT’s actuators find applications to activate moving parts in equipment ranging from food-packaging machines and robotic arms to the landing gear on airplanes.

To meet the exploding demand for industrial machines, machine builders are confronted with the urgent need to find a more energy-efficient and reliable solution to produce automation and packaging machines. Current pneumatic actuators are restraining the productivity and reliability, and increasing the operational costs due to the induced energy consumption.

Renens based KOMP-ACT developed high-quality, powerful linear electric actuators at low costs for mainstream market applications, which fit on existing machines. It allows customers to switch from current pneumatics technology and solve the challenges of limited productivity, reliability, or energy costs. As a result, European machine suppliers can increase the value of their machines and protect themselves against the low-cost competition targeting their customer base. With its technology, KOMP-ACT provides a compact, electric, and efficient solution. It reduces energy consumption by up to 95% and increases productivity by three times, and in terms of environmental impact, the electric actuators save up to 1.8 tons of CO2 per year.

The four people team behind KOMP-ACT came up with a simple yet disruptive technology change, delivering one of the highest performances in the market, compared to other electric actuators that do not comply with the performance requirements. The team has filed two patent applications, the first relating to the new magnetic design and the second on a new electromagnetic gripper for pick and place applications. The start-up is currently in the commercialisation phase and aims to enter different markets by 2024, including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. In 2019, KOMP-ACT received a FIT Tech Seed loan to complete their Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and establish relationships with early customers.

Expanding sales capabilities in Italy and Germany

With the new FIT Tech Growth loan of CHF 400’000, KOMP-ACT aims to expand its sales team in Italy and Germany while expanding its back-office team in Switzerland. In addition, the FIT loan enables the start-up to increase the stock of components and products from 100 pieces to 200. KOMP-ACT also seeks to conclude a financial round of CHF 5 million by the end of 2022.
