Swiss LegalTech Neur.on closes CHF 1.6M round

A spin-off from a well-established specialized Swiss Language Service Provider, Hieronymus – Translations by Lawyers for Lawyers, Neur.on disrupts the legal translation landscape with its end-to-end AI platform granting legal professionals full control over the translation process and offering the expected degree of accuracy – while streamlining the required human resources.

Today, Neur.on’s first product, LexMachina – the Translation Engine for Swiss Lawyers, is already being intensely used by large Swiss law firms, legal publishers and cantonal public authorities.

The close cooperation between Neur.on’s team of lawyer-linguists and NLP-engineers, , and the company’s clients ensures continuous improvement of Neur.on’s industry-specific solutions. This multidisciplinary approach includes a close collaboration with the University of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA-FR).

“Since the emergence of Neural Machine Translation, lawyers have hoped that it would put an end to painful translation roadblocks on proceedings and costly outsourcing. However, there is yet to exist a translation platform tailor-made to the legal community that features the security, accuracy and resource optimization needed by the industry. – Neur.on’s SaaS solution addresses this issue and lets lawyers take control of the translation process whenever they see fit,” shares Paula Reichenberg, CEO of Neur.on, entrepreneur with over 15yrs of experience, lawyer registered at the Zurich bar, MBA INSEAD and Fribourg Faculty of Law graduate. “Our solution is currently used by several hundred customers in Switzerland and the additional funding will be used to accelerate our international expansion and software development.”

The funding round was led by the legal publisher Helbing Lichtenhahn, an ideal strategic investor with a wealth of legal data and an extensive distribution network. Neur.on was also supported by Capital Risque Fribourg SA, an investment fund financed by the State of Fribourg, as well as by seasoned entrepreneurs from around the world with extensive experience in LegalTech, law and finance.

The investor panel features London LegalTech wizard Ajay Patel, founder of HighQ, international bankruptcy and restructuring lawyer James Sprayregen, partner at Kirkland and Ellis, as well as the prominent Geneva banker and entrepreneur François Reyl.
