Assaia has announced the first members of its Strategic Partner Community (SPC): the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), operator of Toronto Pearson, International Airlines Group (IAG), operator of British Airways, Iberia and others, and JetBlue Ventures are among the initial industry players to join. SPC members provide advice to the Swiss start-up and will also invest in the company.

Assaia uses artificial intelligence to reduce turnaround times and improve on-time-performance. It enables real-time responses to increase gate availability, improve on-time performance and ensure safety on the apron. In addition, by focusing on taxi-in time reduction and auxiliary power unit usage limitation, airports and airlines can make strides in their sustainability goals.

Drawing on Assaia’s existing data sources from millions of turnarounds across over 40 airports, combined with proprietary computer vision algorithms, the system monitors, alerts and predicts to optimise the turnaround.

The SPC plays a very important role in providing both strategic and tactical counsel to guide the development of Assaia’s portfolio of products for managing and optimising apron operations. Furthermore, by taking an equity stake in Assaia, the SPC partners are underpinning their belief in Assaia as a company.

Max Diez, CEO of Assaia said, “Our Strategic Partner Community is our hive mind. It is made up of the most innovative airports and airlines. Together, they give us unique insight into their requirements so we can provide what the whole aviation community needs. The SPC is poised to grow over the next year and our industry colleagues are invited to get in touch to learn more about joining this community and helping steer the future of apron operations.”

Raghbir S. Pattar, IAG Director of Airports Transformation said, “We are proud to be partnering with the Assaia team in our mission to use technology to improve the efficiency and safety of the airport environment.”

Jim Lockheed of JetBlue Ventures said, “Today, turnaround performance operations rely on manual data collection methods, which limit the insights available and increase the potential for human error in the data collected. Assaia's product allows airports and airlines to collect, track, and analyze data in real time; this innovation removes inefficiencies and optimizes performance. We're thrilled to be involved in Assaia’s continued growth.”
