Expense Robot inks a partnership with a Swiss travel company

After securing CHF 1.7 million a seed round, Expense Robot has attracted and signed a partnership agreement with the Swiss business travel specialist bta first. The startup will provide an integrated expense solution that promises to deliver an outstanding price-performance ratio.

Zurich based Expense Robot leverages AI to fully automate all expense and company credit card processes – from the picture of a receipt to the compliance checks, the Finance booking, VAT input tax reclaims, archiving and reimbursement. The tool enables managers and the finance team to focus on exceptions and outliers only. One year after its incorporation the startup closed a seed round raising CHF1.7 million from Swisscom and SIX and attracted customers worldwide including Swissquote, Kägi, Ameropa and SkyCell.

The startup has now expanded its customer base with the addition of bta first travel, a Swiss business travel specialist and an independent business unit of the Hotelplan Group with whom it signed a partnership. For more than 30 years, the company has been providing customers with tailored travel services along the entire supply chain to enable them to keep their costs within bounds.

In acknowledgement of the significance of their partnership, CEO of bta first, Roland Birchmeier, said in an interview: “The origins of the partnership between Expense Robot and bta first travel go back to the last calendar year. Such partnerships are of great strategic importance for us, because, we offer our clients a hand for solutions that cannot be assigned to the classic travel distribution. For some time now, we have seen a great need on the part of our customers in this respect. The Corona crisis is now accelerating this process.”

Through their agreement, bta first will benefit from Expense Robot’s integrated expense solution, which guarantees an excellent price-performance ratio whilst ensuring better quality and time at lower process costs.

“There are a lot of providers in your business segment – it is becoming increasingly difficult for our customers to gain an overview. Therefore, we were looking for a partner who offers an excellent product, is dynamic and has a national presence and is therefore quickly available”, adds Birchmeier.

The startup will also benefit from bta first’s longstanding market expertise and knowledge enabling it to improve its solution.
