Swissproptech is organising the first ConTech Award to support and uplift startups that are developing solutions for transforming the construction industry. A range of benefits including participation at the SwissBau trade fair await the finalists and the winners from the two award category Planning and Building.

The construction sector has been hesitant about fully embracing the latest technological opportunities. This is partly due to the internal and external challenges such as traditional business models, the persistent fragmentation of the industry or shortage of skilled construction workers.

SwissProtech has organized the first ConTech Award as part of the biennial SwissBau exhibition scheduled on 14th -18th January 2020 in Basel. The award aims to promote the development of applications and solutions in the construction sector and provide startups with a platform to showcase their ideas and innovations that will lead to the transformation in the construction sector.

A jury of industry experts will nominate 10 finalists in two categories «Planning» and «Building» based on the criteria; degree of innovation, commercial potential, environmental impact, strength of USP and level of social impact.

The finalists will get the opportunity to pitch before the jury and the SwissBau-audience which comprises top Swiss companies and experts from the construction industry. They will also gain visibility through SwissBau 2020 and SwissPropTech media channels which reach over 100 000 industry professionals as well as access to customers and investors network. For international ConTech startups, the competition opens doors for expansion into the Swiss market. Together with the audience, the jury will choose only one startup per category to be ConTech competition winner.

Application for the competition closes on 15 October.

Startup Hub at Swiss Bau 2020
For the first time, SwissBau is also offering startups a platform to gain exposure. By setting up a Startup Hub as part of its Innovation Lab, startups will for the first time have a designated area to showcase their innovative ideas and attract potential partners and customers.

The offering is targeted at startups with solutions for planning, building and production as well as living and working. The startup must be less than three years and has products or services that have only been on the market for a short time or are about to be launched on the market. Registration for the exhibition space in the Startup Hub closes on 30th August.
