Digital Health start-up Caressoma won the “Information Technology Award for the most outstanding service” worth $15‘000 at Virginia Tech yesterday. Caressoma represented the finalists of the ZHAW Startup Challenge 2019.

The Virginia Tech Global Entrepreneur Partnership offers elite student teams and university representatives from all over the world a chance to collaborate, form partnerships, and build their global networks. Selected student teams can pitch their business ideas for cash prizes. Yesterday Caressoma won one of these prizes.

Caressoma combines modern sensor technology and artificial intelligence for medical applications. Rare diseases and sports injuries are among the application fields. With Caressoma’s product called SonIt athletes receive monitoring and control charts of their muscles, the coaches get an overview of the health status of the whole team, the management sees the team's key performance indicators, and the medical staff gets access to the whole health data gathered. In this way, the device is an advanced tool to support medical workers in making a comprehensive diagnosis. SonIt, which is still under development has already attracted and impressed potential clients within the sports industry worldwide.

Caressoma represented the finalists of the ZHAW Startup Challenge 2019. Winners of the challenge have the opportunity to fly to the USA and take part in the global completion. In addition finalists receive a 6-month free membership in the RUNWAY Startup Incubator, where they can continue working on their startup idea. The applications for the next edition of the challenge will open in the coming weeks.
