DistalMotion, a spin-off from EPFL, announces the closing of a financing round led by Zühlke Ventures. Additional investors include BlueOcean Ventures and private investors.

DistalMotion SA is a spin off from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and develops an advanced surgery platform for minimally invasive operations. The platform intuitively enables the surgeon to work with higher precision, less tremor and without inverted movements. It features a low system complexity and offers an attractive cost position for the healthcare payers.

Investors in DistalMotion include Zuehlke Ventures, BlueOcean Ventures and private Investors.

Daniel Schätti was elected to be the new Chairman of the company. Schätti says «This novel surgery platform is a credible and reasonable way forward to improve surgical outcome and to relieve pressure on the healthcare system thus still giving the surgeon the most advanced operation assistance».

Patrick Griss, who represents Zühlke Ventures on the board, adds «DistalMotion responds to the needs of minimally invasive surgeries requiring quick setup before and high levels of manual dexterity during the procedure».
