Top 100 Award

This year, Venturelab celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Top 100 Swiss Startup Award. Despite the current challenges caused by COVID-19, the jury has kicked off the selection process to nominate the most promising Swiss startups in 2020 and to support and celebrate visionary entrepreneurs in challenging times.

The TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award is one most significant accolades in the Swiss startup ecosystem which honours the most promising startups in the country. This year Venturelab will commemorate the genesis of award celebrating ten years of success and collaboration with startup CEOs, investors, journalists and corporate executives that gather every year to gain deep insights into the latest proven concepts, network, and establish new business relationships.

Despite the impact of COVID-19, Venturelab will celebrate the 10th anniversary as it kicks off the selection process for the 2020 Top 100 Swiss startups. “TOP 100 is even more important in this period of crisis and uncertainty: It is essential to celebrate visionary entrepreneurs and their achievements—particularly during hard times. The 2020 edition, which will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the TOP 100 ranking, will therefore probably be one of historical remembrance,“ said Jordi Montserrat, managing partner of Venturelab. “We are preparing with all our partners and are dedicated to making this edition a major ‘post-pandemic’ happening.”

A panel of 100 leading investors and startup experts will select the most innovative and promising Swiss startups. Each one nominates their 10 favourite Swiss startups that are less than five years old and show the greatest commercial potential. Each expert then chooses 10 startups, with the first place receiving 10 points and 10th place receiving one point. All the individual rankings are compiled to generate the final TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award ranking, which recognizes the startups that have impressed all 100 jury members the most.

Top 25 Scale-Ups and Public voting
As part of the TOP 100 awards, the experts also choose the most promising Swiss scale-up startups for the TOP 25 Scale-up ranking. The selected startups are aged 5 to 10 years and show the greatest potential for further growth. Furthermore, the public voting where the broader audience will choose the best startup of Switzerland that incorporated on or after 1 January 2015,  will start in May.
