Plantix, a leading AI company in the Agritech space based out of Berlin, has announced that it has acquired Salesbee GmbH, Zurich, and its Indian subsidiary Salesbee India Private Limited for an undisclosed amount. The Salesbee founders have already started a new fintech start-up.

Salesbee has built a leading B2B platform which it used to digitize the tail end of the Agri inputs market in India with over 7,000 businesses connected to its platform. Plantix has built the world’s leading mobile-based Agri advisory service leveraging Artificial Intelligence for farmers in developing markets. The company has a very large footprint of customers all over the world. With the focus on India Plantix has reached over 10 million downloads with its farmer-supporting smartphone application.

In a joint statement, Simone Strey, CEO and Founder of Plantix and Anand Pareek, Founder of Salesbee GmbH, informed that this transaction will create substantial value for farmers and retailers in India as well as Agri input companies, by bringing all the key stakeholders onto one leading digital platform.

Martin Kütter, COO for Plantix said, “Following the acquisition, Plantix will continue to aggressively expand the footprint in India and South East Asia bringing over 10 million farmers and over 200,000 retailers on the platform over the next 3 years. This will help digitize the input side of the agriculture market at an unprecedented scale.”

Post-acquisition, Anand Pareek, founder of Salesbee along with Peter Schnellmann, a former Swiss banking executive, will continue to expand on the digitization of B2B markets, leveraging technology and experience from the Salesbee venture. The new venture “Buyogo.com” aims to bring technology, commerce and financing for SMEs in the B2B ecosystem in both Swiss and the larger EU market.
