After his documentary films about the Swiss fintech and blockchain scene, Manuel Stagars is now working on a film about deeptech startups in Switzerland. The premiere of the film will take place in July 2020. Interviews with 11 founders can already be seen on the film website as "behind the scenes" videos.

Manuel Stagars has made a name for himself in the Swiss innovation scene. His two documentary films "Fintech Made in Switzerland" and "The Blockchain and Us" were met with a great response, half a million YouTube hits and prizes at international film festivals.

Now he is working on a new project. "Start-up" is an independent observational feature documentary film about deep tech startups that work in artificial intelligence, drones, additive manufacturing, cleantech, and biotech. Manuel Stagars followed the journey of eleven entrepreneurs and their six startups over the course of several months in Switzerland. His film gives insight into their technologies and their way of working, and it also offers a rare glimpse behind the scenes of the startup life, showing the challenges of the young entrepreneurs who want to make a big impact in the world.

Behind-the-scenes interviews with the entrepreneurs in the film have already taken place and, as always with documentaries, Manuel Stagars has collected much more material than will find its way into the final film. Therefore, he has decided to publish the series of interviews with founders on his Youtube channel  and Twitter starting now, 100 days before the premiere. Before Easter interviews with Fabio Oldenburg (CTO Gaia Membranes), Michela Puddu (CEO Haelixa) and Ning Qiao (CEO aiCTX) will be published. More interviews will follow every day after Easter. There will be a total of eleven interviews with co-founders of six start-ups.

The premiere of “Start-up” is currently planned for July and is expected to be online. On the film's website you can find out more about the project and you can also subscribe to a newsletter to stay up to date.

"Start-up" is supported by the Gebert Rüf Stiftung as part of the "Scientainment" programme. Additional support from the Ernst Göhner Stiftung, Kultur Wetzikon and the Cultural Foundation of the Canton of Valais.
