Swiss start-ups are active in a wide variety of application areas and the new support offered by Innosuisse to those that want to attend trade fairs takes this into account. Participation as an exhibitor or visitor can be supported at all international trade fairs.

Even though they may be unknown to the general public, international leading trade fairs exist for virtually every market and are an annual meeting place for manufacturers, customers, and other specialist business partners. For start-ups that want to gain a foothold in an established market, attendance at such fairs is obligatory; Swiss start-ups in particular, with their often sensational technologies, have a good chance of attracting attention and thus making valuable contacts.

Innosuisse supports participation, whether as exhibitor or visitor, at basically every international trade fair. This new ‘à la carte’ offer complements the support of start-ups that want to attend selected fairs, such as the Mobile World Congress, Money 20/20 or the BIO International Convention. The Innosuisse trade fair programme is provided by the export promotion organization S-GE.

The funding consists of assumption of up to 70% of the exhibition costs for participation as an exhibitor (to a maximum of CHF 6,000) or visitor (to a maximum of CHF 4,500). In addition, the trade fair programme includes a tailor-made support package that usually comprises of a preparatory meeting, a trade fair briefing, arrangement of individual meetings and targeted follow-up. Hotel and travel costs have to be borne by the start-up.

The offer is aimed at start-up companies that are part of the Innosuisse coaching programme or which have been awarded the CTI Startup Label or the Innosuisse Certificate within the last three years.

Start-ups that want to attend a trade fair as an exhibitor or visitor first turn to S-GE in order to jointly develop a suitable trade fair strategy and specific participation goals. The completed applications are reviewed by Innosuisse and the funding decisions are based on the level of development and requirements of the start-up, the quality of the application and not least the timing of the proposed exhibition. The offer is limited and it is therefore recommended that start-ups apply at an early stage – at least three months before the fair – for targeted support.

Further information can be found on S-GE’s website.
