Cleantech startups can now apply for the 2019 ClimateLaunchpad competition Switzerland. Top 3 teams will win different prizes including travel and accommodation costs to the international Grand finale to Baka, Azerbaijan. Registration for Switzerland closes on the 10th May.

Last year, out of a record number of 1.500 start-ups from 44 countries, all three Swiss finalists were among the winners at the Climateaunchpad Grand Final: FenX won the Theme Award “Circular Economy”, Bloom and Swiss Vault made it to the Top 10. The year before, Medusoil took home the second prize at the Grand Final in Scotland. ClimateLaunchpad alumni startups have also previously won a spot on the 2019 Forbes «30 Under 30» List for Europe.

ClimateLaunchpad of the world’s biggest clean-tech ideas competition is now accepting applications for the fifth edition. Organized by Startup Academy, the competition is designed for Startups and individuals and Individuals from Switzerland with green business ideas.

Selected participants will develop their business ideas and pitches within the framework of a two-day Boot Camp with experienced trainers. After the Boot Camp, they will receive support and coaching to perfect their pitches, value propositions and business models in preparation for the National Final in September 2019. Top 3 teams will be selected and win different prizes including travel and accommodation costs to the international final where they can pitch in front of an international jury and audience.

Eligible to apply are individuals who have a promising clean-tech idea, have not yet started a business or the company has been incorporated for less than a year; have not yet participated in ClimateLaunchpad or been accepted into Climate-KIC Accelerator; have attracted no more than € 200,000 in investment; and have not yet sold products, solutions or prototypes on commercial terms. Individuals can only enter the competition in their own country. Registration for Switzerland closes on the 10th of May 2019.

Grand Final in Azerbaijan
This year, the Grand Final will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan. The top national candidates from each participating country will gather to compete once again. Teams that make to the Top-10 will get direct access to the Climate-KIC Accelerator to further develop their ideas. The overall winner of the Grand Final receives € 10,000, the runner up gets € 5,000 and the idea that comes in third place wins € 2,500. All other Grand Grand Finalists get a chance to pitch their idea in front of the review board of EIT Climate-KIC Accelerator to gain access to the programme.
