The FIT Jury has granted CHF 200’000 FIT Tech seed loan to two new projects. Mirrakoi, specializes in CAD-software solutions for 3D digital product design solutions, while MotionTech is developing tailored orthopedic devices through 3D printing technologies. The funds will help to accelerate commercialization.

The two new startups that have each obtained the CHF 100’000 FIT Tech seed loan have one commonality; they both have a core segment of their business that either aims to deliver 3D-related solutions or leverage 3D technologies. The former is true for Mirrakoi.

Founded in 2018, Mirrakoi (Picture above) is an EPFL spin-off based at EPFL Innovation Park, developing a CAD-software solution for creating and designing 3D digital products in a faster and more intuitive way than the existing technology.

The user base of Mirrakoi consists of product- and industrial designers, engineers, and architects. The solution allows them to learn, use and create 3D objects intuitively, faster and with higher precision than with existing products while reducing design iterations and accelerating speed-to-market. Early this year, Mirrakoi launched its first product to the market. The fresh funds from FIT will enable the company to hire more people and gain rapid traction.

MotionTech (Picture below), on the other hand, is a spin-off from the HEIG-VD Yverdon that is shaking the prosthetics market with custom liners developed through 3D printing technologies. Thanks to an easy three-step process, the prosthetist can easily scan the limb, choose the design and a tailored liner is printed in less than 3 hours. The startup has already equipped the first patient with one of their custom liners and have a letter of intent from more than 9 major clients in Switzerland and abroad.

The FIT Tech seed loan will enable MotionTech to commercialize its liners in Switzerland, with the objective to work with 50 prosthetists by the end of 2019 and kick-off their international expansion to France, Belgium and Germany.
