Tecknowledge’s 900GPa database focused on composite materials is growing strongly. The startup based in Le Mont-sur-Lausanne attracts users as well as sponsors for its freely accessible platform. Further growth will be fuelled by additional language versions. And the start-up is already examining the potential for diversification in the future.

Tecknowledge’s 900GPa online technical database on composite materials is growing fast. Barely eight months after its launch, the Vaud based startup just announced its 8th sponsor: Dehondt Composites, a French group specialized in high performance flax fiber. Other sponsors of the platform are Saint-Gobain Quartz, Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber & Composites, Owens Corning, the worldwide leader of glass fibers for composites and NGF,  the Japanese leader of ultra-high modulus carbon fibers.

Speaking of growth, Gilles Rocher, Tecknowledge Managing Director, explains that the database number of users and web traffic has been growing very fast since January, reaching almost 20’000 pages viewed in March, an increase of 60% in comparison to February. Providing results in English, French and Chinese, the search engine will soon be available in Japanese, Korean, German and Spanish. This will further boost the appeal of the 900GPa database on these key industrial markets. The database contains today 2200 fiber, 350 resins and 700 prepregs references.

In a fast expanding global market, 900GPa aims at making technical information about composites more accessible to the industry and beyond, supporting the growth of the industry and the development of new applications. It is in free access to any users worldwide and it is sponsored by material suppliers who improve their visibility and image of technical leaders through their presence in the database

As the Managing Director explains to Startupticker.ch, 900GPa.com has proven good reliability and user satisfaction. These encouraging results have led Tecknowledge to investigate the potential for diversification and deploying its code to manage other sets of technical data in other industries.
