Biowatch and inVoli platform

The 2018 Innovation showcase event in California brings startups with the potential to disrupt the communications sector to the spotlight. In the class of 2018 are two Swiss startups, Biowatch and Involi. They will present their innovations to the audience and have the chance to meet partners and investors.

The Telecom Council's 2018 Innovation Showcase matches well-positioned, early-stage communication startups with strategic fitting telcos, vendors, investors, and potential partners from across the world in back-to-back pitch meetings.

For this year’s event, the selection team, comprising of members from Service Providers Innovation Forum and Investor Forum community, has nominated 29 startups out of 100 applications. The startups – including Biowatch and Involi from Switzerland – were selected based on their potential to disrupt the communications market.

Biowatch
The Lausanne based startup envisions a world with seamless transactions at an uncompromising level of security and privacy by introducing a wearable solution ready for payments, ticketing, access control and ID management. By looking at the user's unique wrist vein pattern Biowatch leverages non-stop authentication to the wearable and thus suppresses the need for any further authentication steps when accessing devices, premises and services. Beyond the extra security brought by the device, a single activation by the user is enough to enable non-stop authentication as long as the device stays on the wrist, simplifying users' experience who do not have to prove anymore their identity 50 or 100 times a day before any secured transactions.

inVoli
The integration of drones into today's air traffic is a challenge, which goes beyond the limits of the aviation world. Nowadays, telecommunication companies actively look into the matter and INVOLI stands as a bridge between the two worlds: INVOLI offers an air traffic data platform, providing situational awareness to drones and enabling collision avoidance between drones and airplanes and this data is gathered through in-house developed devices organized in a network built in partnership with telecommunication companies.

The selected cohort will participate in the innovation showcase event on 22 May in Santa Clara, California. The event offers the startups the opportunity to participate in demos, pitches and personal as well as pre-scheduled meetings. They will also benefit from roundtable panel discussion on the topic of Exit Here: M&A, Private Equity, or IPO as well as exchange with the audience during the networking and open showcase Demo Floor.
