Suworov-Award to strengthen Swiss-Russian relations

The Swiss Russian Forum (SRF) is organising the Suworov Award to recognise outstanding innovative projects by Swiss and/or Russian citizens whose projects have a cross-national or international impact. The Suworov-Prize provides the winner with a cash prize and one-year start-up coaching for the innovation project. The award is open for application.

The Swiss Russian Forum in cooperation with the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE) launches the search for the 6th Suworov Prize Winner 2016. The major aim of the Suworov Prize is to encourage young researchers and inventors to present creative projects to an international market thus supporting their countries’ economy. The Suworov team also seeks to strengthen the long-term economic relations between the two countries through cooperation with FASIE.

A Russian-Swiss Jury of experts will examine and evaluate all submitted projects basing on the following criteria;

  • Level of creativity: Originality and Simplicity of idea
  • Innovation value: Transfer between science and business and influence of project on status quo
  • Social relevance: Timeliness of the project, that is, the project meets a social need and has a broad social impact.
  • Marketability: The project refers to market demand and forecasts financial viability
  • Swiss Russian context: Common Swiss/Russian elements are a prerequisite.

Eligible for the SRF Suworov-Award are; students, graduates, post-graduates, scientific staff at all universities/colleges as well as companies or their designated representatives. Winterthur Instruments from Switzerland won the Suworov Prize in 2015.

Upon qualification for the competition, start-ups will be invited to present their business plans after which semi-finalists will be selected to proceed to the second round. Three finalists will be selected to present at the Suworov Award Ceremony in Moscow on December, 5th 2016. An overall winner and other two best start-ups will be determined during the award ceremony. These will receive varying prizes categorised into three, namely: The FASIE prize for the 1st   winner: up to 9 million Rubles (approx. CHF 13,000), Swiss Business Hub support for all winners: CEO Trip to Switzerland and Export consulting for Swiss companies, Innovare for the allwinners: Supporting program, Soft-landing in Switzerland (SLS). Apart from distinguishing the winners, the Suworov-Award is also intended to provide encouragement and additional publicity as well as to serve as a reference.

Registration closes on September 19th, 2016.

About the Suworov Award
The Suworov Prize is organised in cooperation with the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE) and under the auspices of the Swiss Embassy in Moscow and Canton of Zurich. The major aim of the Suworov Prize is to encourage young researchers and inventors to present creative projects to an international market thus supporting their countries’ economy. The organisation also promotes and organises know how transfer between Switzerland and the Russian Federation in areas of mutual interest.
