SICTIC is a new business angel club aimed at ICT start-ups. The association organises investor days on a regular basis and the last one in Zurich was organised in collaboration with UBS. The next event will follow in Lausanne on 11 May; start-ups may apply until 12 April.

Last week about 50 people gathered for a Swiss ICT Investor Club (SICTIC) investor day in Zurich; it was held in partnership with UBS Entrepreneur and Executive Desk, a special desk within UBS Wealth Management that delivers advisory services for entrepreneurs; for example, support for entrepreneurs looking for investors. UBS Desk teamed up for the first time with a business angel club to organise the pitch event.

SICTIC is a young club and president Thomas Dübendorfer shared some news about the association in his introductory remarks, the most important being that the club is opening up to new business angels. More information about SICTIC’s services and the desired profile of investors can be found on the association’s new website, www.sictic.ch.

In Zurich, eight start-ups had the opportunity to deliver a 90-second elevator pitch. Four were selected to go into the second round and had seven minutes, plus five minutes for Q&A, to present their business.

The four companies were:

  • Archilogic Creates digital, interactive 3D models of real estate interiors that can be explored and furnished directly in the browser
  • GovFaces  Aims to become the first global political network to connect citizens and their elected representatives online
  • yooture An internet platform that matches and connects jobs and candidates
  • Postauction.com A global platform that sells unsold objects from traditional auction houses

Next investor day
The next investor day will take place in Lausanne on 11 May. Again, eight start-ups will have the chance to pitch and four start-ups will be selected by the audience to present their company in seven minutes. However, in Lausanne a jury comprising entrepreneurs and investors (Alexandre Peyraud, Pierre Bordry, Patrick Barbey and Sal Matteis) will select a winner. Applications are open until 12 April; more information about the event can be found on the website.
