AirConsole multiple gamers

With the introduction of AirConsole, N-Dream revolutionised the gaming industry by allowing multiple individuals to play games together on the TV using their mobile phones as gamepads. CEO and founder Andrin von Rechenberg revealed to Startupticker that the company had ten-fold revenues from the Android TV segment and now has ongoing discussions with strategic partners in the car industry to launch gaming in the car.

Gaming is fun but also a costly pleasure for a larger population in low- and middle-income countries and emerging countries, considering the price of video gaming consoles like the Xbox, Nintendo or Playstations. In 2015, the ex-Googler and serial entrepreneur Andrin von Rechenberg founded N-Dream. He devised a solution that would make gaming accessible to anyone worldwide, and his approach made N-Dream the first to bring casual gaming to the television industry.

The company’s flagship product AirConsole is a hybrid cloud-gaming solution that allows individuals and multiple players to play over 180 games on their Television or computer using their mobile phones a gamepad with no signup. The controller is also adapted to every game in the catalogue – a simple feature that existing console controllers lack.

Thanks to the simplicity, affordability and quick access to games, AirConsole has reached a broader audience worldwide, reaching over 10 million players in more than 190 countries. The startup’s user base is dominated by players in developing countries such as South America and South-East Asia, but numbers are also growing in other regions.

The company offers a freemium model to B2C clients allowing them to access a limited number of games free of charge and full access upon closing the AirConsole Hero subscription. For multiple players, only one player needs to have a subscription. A five-digit- number of gamers concluded subscriptions last year.

Multiple partnerships with global businesses
N-Dream also collaborates with business companies to make gaming even more accessible; for instance, telecommunication companies can allow their clients to pay for the games on their broadband contracts, or TV manufacturers can add games to their devices. Today, the company counts more than 15 partnerships with leading companies, including Huawei, Swisscom, AmazonFire TV, Google TV, Atari, TCL, and Xiaomi.

AirConsole attributes its success to the rapid growth and widespread of Google TV and Android TV (the operating system for TV devices such as Sony, Sharp, Philips, Nvidia & Xiaomi), which together have over 110 million monthly active devices on the market, also confirmed in an article by 9to5Google. Thanks to this growing trend, N-Dream recorded ten-fold revenues from the Android TV gaming segment alone. Overall, von Rechenberg and his team of eight employees look back on a successful journey since its founding. The company has raised CHF 7.5 million in financing rounds and has built a network of 10’000 game developers.

Eyes on the car industry
Moving forward, AirConsole will continue to grow its content and expand its reach into more living rooms across the globe. As the company grows within the TV segment, it seeks to navigate its way into the car industry, particularly in the self-driving area. Discussions with potential partners to bring the first games to vehicles in the near future are currently ongoing.
