Accolades for healthtech solutions out of Switzerland

Four medtech startups have obtained awards for their innovative solutions. Pathmate for its chronic disease management app Manoa, Rea Diagnostics for the smart pad tackling preterm births, Lymhatica for the Lymphodrain device and Pneumoscope for the AI-powered stethoscope.

Pathmate – DiGA-Pitch-Battle
Certified as a medical device, the Manoa App is a digital coach that supports people in self-managing high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and sleep problems in everyday life, and motivates them to reduce influenceable risk factors. A prospective analysis of Manoa user data with over 380 participants showed that users of the app were able to reduce their systolic blood pressure by an average of 6.1 mmHg after 8 to 16 weeks. A randomized study is currently being prepared with GP practices in Bavaria and Lower Saxony to investigate the medical benefits of the app in healthcare. The startup partners with various organisations including Sanitas, InsurLab Germany, and Generali, among others to enable them to provide 1:1 chronic care support. The company’s interactive concept convinced the jury of the first-ever DiGA Pitch Battle of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Innere Medizin e.V..

Lymphatica Medtech - best emerging startup company – Munich, Germany
The BioVaria award jury selected Swiss startup Lymphatica as the best emerging startup in the Startup Pitch & Partner Program, a virtual venue for European life-science and biotech entrepreneurs, founders and startups to present their business idea and network with leading venture capitalists, investors and top biotech/pharma companies. The category emerging startup targets pre-seed teams in the founding process or founded within the past 4 years and awards EUR 1,000 to the winners. Based in Eculblens (Vaud), Lymphatica developed LymphoDrain, the first implantable artificial lymphatic vessel is a medical device intended to recirculate lymph, re-establishing the physiological fluid equilibrium.

Rea Diagnostics SA - ODDO BHF Young Entrepreneur Awards
Rea won the “Prix Spécial du Jury” of the ODDO BHF Young Entrepreneurs Awards that took place in STATION F in Paris, France. ODDO BHF is a large and independent European financial group managing more than 140 Billion Euros in client assets. Through this initiative, the organisation is shining the spotlight on the most promising startups in France and Switzerland. The prize recognizes our company's societal impact and high level of innovation. Rea creates an impact on women’s health by helping to prevent preterm birth through a non-invasive approach and medical smart pad (and app) that detects issues early during pregnancy to prevent preterm births. For the first time, women can constantly monitor their pregnancy at home to prevent the issue from happening.

Pneumoscope project team Jet d’Or de l’Innovation 2022
Held within the framework of the Geneva Health Forum, the Jet d’Or de l’Innovation rewards the innovation that has the greatest impact on health or access to care. The medtech startup Pneumoscope developed an AI-powered stethoscope at HUG - Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève and Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne for the diagnosis of tract respiratory diseases. The Pneumoscope project aims to standardise lung auscultation to help healthcare professionals to better diagnose pulmonary diseases. More than 160’000 respiratory cycles of healthy and sick patients suffering from bronchiolitis, asthma, pneumonia, Covid-19, COPD, tuberculosis, etc. have been recorded by 35 collaborators in 10 countries.
