The foundation supporting technological entrepreneurship in the canton of Geneva, FONGIT, announces three new beneficiaries of the FONGIT Innovation Fund (FIF). The two startups ABCDx and Neurosoft bioelectronics each received seed funding of CHF 100,000 in the form of convertible loans. HekeTiss SA received a grant of CHF 50,000. These loans aim to foster the scale up of promising companies from Geneva at the service of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

ABCDx is a Swiss-based startup specialized in the discovery, clinical validation and commercialization of point-of-care diagnostics with advanced blood-based biomarkers for brain injuries. The startup team has identified a combination of biomarkers to detect stroke patients with large vessel occlusion already in the ambulance using a drop of blood from a finger prick and permits the proper triage of stroke patients with 100% positive predictive value within 15 minutes. ABCDx pursues an innovative business approach to take part in the digital health revolution with the development of a Patient-Management App.

Neurosoft bioelectronics is a startup specialized in developing soft implantable electrodes to interface with the human brain for the treatment of patients who suffer from severe neurological disorders. The startup has established a unique technology that allows it to manufacture extremely compliant neural interfaces that can achieve long-term bio-integration in the body and improve therapeutic outcomes in patients. The company is currently working on an electrode for monitoring of patients during brain tumor and epilepsy resection surgery, as well as developing the very first closed-loop implantable brain-computer interface to treat severe tinnitus.

HekeTiss SA is a spin-off of the University Hospitals of Geneva and the University of Geneva, developing a new solution for the treatment of chronic wounds. The innovation, called TrophiPatch, is a cellular (i.e. containing living cells) patch that physically resembles a thin piece of real skin, engineered from stem cells extracted from the fat of the human body. TrophiPatch uniquely provides active secretion of a number of factors that promote the wound healing process, leading to a reduction in treatment time.
