CompPair expanded its HealTech Standard product family by introducing CS02, its second product line tailored to enable faster production manufacturing for the sports, leisure, and industrial sectors. More than 20 customers are already implementing its products, with clear roadmaps for series productions in the coming years. The EPFL startup showcased last week at JEC World 2023 some of these exciting collaborations.

CompPair is on a roll again. The Swiss startup is back from a productive JEC World 2023 Paris where it showcased the results of collaborations in a wide range of areas, from sports with an updated QST ski with Salomon, to aerospace with the result of its European Space Agency – ESA project: a landing leg tube for reusable space launchers. The company also showed the result of collaborations in aerospace with a healable wheel covering for motor gliders in a partnership with Altus and a hydrogen tank pressure vessel for Omikron. In the marine sector, there was also a healable and smart hydrofoil developed in partnership with ZESST by Almatech and MB-Composite.

A week earlier, CompPair expanded its HealTech Standard product family with the introduction of CS02 swift prepreg line offering reduced cycle time for a press process while maintaining embedded healing. The new composite has been tailored to enable faster production manufacturing for the sports, leisure, and industrial sectors. Speaking of this launch, CEO and Cofounder Amael Cohades tells Startupticker.ch: “The release of this second product line was a key milestone at CompPair. Indeed, showing that we can bring complementary products into the portfolio validates our business model, together with the potential of CompPair to be implemented in all types of applications with composites (within a USD 100 bn industry!). We are working on additional product lines for specific applications within our target verticals: sports, leisure, aerospace and mobility.”

Market validation and growth

CompPair stands as a materials provider within its industry, to build composite structures that have the embedded healing function to last longer and produce less waste. The implementation of a product takes several years, but the team of Amaël Cohades has been able to gather as quickly as possible feedbacks on the manufacturing and performances of its first product line. The market has very well received the healing potential of its products, solving a real challenge within the industry says Amaël Cohades.

The first product line enables a broad range of applications, and the team has been able to learn from it the specificities to target specific markets of interest, which reinforced and validated its business model. The crucial thing with CompPair’s business model is the complementarity between various product lines to broaden its application potential leading the CEO to say: “We can indeed say that this first product is a success enabling to buildup complementary products to increase the impact potential of CompPair. Today more than 20 customers are implementing our products, with clear roadmaps for series productions in the coming years.” Based in the Canton de Vaud, CompPair is currently fundraising to secure customers ramp-up and pass a specific revenue threshold. There is still some space for interested parties.
