Various factors contribute to the successful establishment of a company in a foreign country. Recently four Swiss startups announced the measures taken to gain a strong foothold in the United States: setting up a new office, getting necessary approvals and patents, and having members on the team to help them navigate and grow in the new market are among them.

Sonix provides ultra-low-latency software and an app that reduces lag time by 5x over the top platform typically used in gaming. Recently, Sonix achieved time lags of as low as 18 milliseconds in a test during a live performance with top-level musicians collaborating remotely between the Montreux Jazz Festival and Jazz A Vienne. SONIX is a partner with major EU and US esports teams like LS Esports, as well as in esports education with the Gaming Campus, France’s largest university devoted to the video game business. In January, Sonix marked its first step in the US market after providing its technology to the University of North Carolina’s Niner Esports Union LAN Party, one of the largest scholastic gaming events in the country. The startup has now established an office in Arlington, MA, while growing remotely across the US with employees and representatives in the East and West coast regions.

FAA approval opens doors to the US
Swiss Airtainer is a leading provider of innovative and sustainable transport solutions airfreight containers equipped with 18 built-in sensors for a comprehensive, real-time preventive management system. The startup has received the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) approval, an achievement that marks a significant step forward for the company, opening doors to the U.S. flag airlines and other airlines whose countries recognize FAA regulation and approval. The FAA approval comes as a result of Swiss Airtainer's commitment to revolutionizing the transportation of life-saving medicine while prioritizing sustainability and data integration. The company's container, weighing 250 kg less than its competitors, leads to a substantial reduction of at least 45% in CO2 emissions—an impressive feat in the aviation industry's pursuit of decarbonization.

US patents pave way for Mitipi to enter the US market
Building on the success of its product Kevin which is currently installed in more than 3,300 households, Mitipi has launched Kevin3.0, a home invasion deterrent device that uses advanced technology to simulate human behaviour, making it difficult for burglars to distinguish between empty and occupied homes. The new product is the result of years of research and development and comes with patented features, including the ability to customize light and shadow effects, authentic pre-recorded sounds, and the possibility to record and simulate its own sounds such as dog barking, homework, discussions among occupants, watching TV and others. In addition to the launch, Mitipi was granted two United States patents covering the “method, device and system for the simulation of the presence of humans” and the “device and method for simulating shadows and/or noises of a person”. With this achievement, Mitipi plans to launch KEVIN®.3 in the US, where it has already conducted field tests in two key markets, Boston and Washington, DC.
