Hack'n'Lead is a woman friendly hackathon where teams of 2-5 people work together on the provided challenges or their own ideas.

Hackathons provide a venue for self-expression and creativity through technology. People with technical backgrounds come together, form teams around a problem or idea, and collaboratively code a unique solution.

Aligned with the mission of increasing gender diversity in the technology sector, the organising committee o Hack'n'Lead is organizing a unique hackathon, through which it aims to bring together tech enthusiasts of all genders to solve technical challenges and incubate their leadership skills.

A woman friendly hackathon
Women make less than 20% of the ICT specialists in Switzerland, which is reflected in the fact that more than 80% of the hackathon’s participants are male. Women are only 14% of executive officers, 8% of top earners, and 4% percent of Fortune 500 CEOs.

As former participants, Hack'n'Lead organisers recognized that lack of women in this highly collaborative event translates into lost opportunities to grow and lead in the sector that is responsible for the nation’s sustained economic growth. Having more women in tech is of interest to everyone, as it has been shown that companies which are gender, racially or ethnically diverse are more likely to have financial returns above the national

Hack'n'Lead is therefore addressing different needs of women to encourage them to participate more in hackathons. Beside a safer space, Hach’n’Lead team is offering childcare in partnership with local childcare facilities in order to provide help on site, thereby enabling mothers and fathers to fully participate in the event. Additionally, there is a pre-event where they can find like-minded people prior to the hackaton. Additionally, preparatory technological workshops and mentors on site will be provided prior to the hack.

The participants will form teams of 2-5 people and work together on the provided challenges or their own ideas.

Registration is now open.  All registered participants will be eligible to attend the pre-event and technical workshops.
