A start-up based in Zug develops an app providing additional information about what viewers are watching on TV - while they are watching. The team is supported by entrepreneur and politician Peter Weigelt.

Layzapp uses audio recognition to identify the show the users are watching. Thanks to its algorithms the app aggregates all kind of information from different sources on the internet to the user’s tablet – additional information to the show, videos, photos and comments from the web are displayed. Information is updated live, e.g. statistics and scores of football matches.

Users get a live stream of relevant information, which can be saved or shared. The app is able to show more and more personalized content when the user indicates what he or she finds interesting. In addition it’s possible to interact with TV shows via Layzapp. An explanatory video can be found on Youtube.

Layzapp has already started the beta testing phase of its app. Users who want to take part in the tests can register on the website of the startup.

The company was founded at the beginning of 2013. CEO is Lukas Hotz, CTO Manuel Schneider. In 2011, the two had founded appricot, a small app development company. Third member of the board of Layzapp is Peter Weigelt, an entrepreneur from St. Gallen and well known as politician. From 1995 to 2006 he was a Member of the Swiss Parliament.
