Zurich Climathon

The City of Zurich, Climate-KIC and Impact Hub Zurich organise a 24-hour Climate-Hackathon to develop solutions for climate issues. Developers, technology experts, entrepreneurs, students or any one with ideas to solve climate challenges may apply.

Climathon is a global 24-hour Hackathon, which will take place simultaneously in more than 120 cities around the world on 28 October 2016. The city of Zurich, Climate-KIC and Impact Hub Zurich are collaborating to organise the event in Zurich. Developers, technical experts, entrepreneurs or students are invited to register and help solve climate-related problems.

During the 24 hours, participants will create new solutions for local climate change problems with other like-minded people. Experts and mentors will support each team in their solution-finding process. A small hardware makerZspace will be provided. After the Climathon the teams can apply to pitch for access to the Climate-KIC Accelerator programme where they can win up to EUR 85'000.

The City of Zurich will provide specific challenges related to local energy, food and climate change adaptation problems. Two of them are already available and the others will be published one after another on the website Climathon Zurich.

A conducive environment will be provided to enable participants to prototype as effectively as possible. Food and drinks, yoga, inspirational talks, technical support and upon request sleeping facilities will be provided.
