At the intelligent transportation world congress (ITSWC) in Bordeaux, Swiss start-up BestMile officially launches its software solution for the remote control of driverless vehicles.

BestMile will be announcing in Bordeaux the commercial launch of its fleet management software for autonomous vehicles. The software acts as a brain, a remote intelligence for autonomous vehicle fleets that enables them to be operated consistently according to the standards of public transportation. Thanks to a set of optimization algorithms, developed in cooperation with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), this software solution optimizes the transportation offer, both in terms of schedule and vehicle itinerary. In addition, BestMile allows users to request a driverless vehicle on-demand thanks to a dedicated smartphone app.

Real life demonstration
A demonstration in real life conditions (i.e. open to the public and with roads open to traffic) will take place during the ITS world congress in Bordeaux from October 6 to October 9. On this occasion, software of the Swiss start-up BestMile will allow the control of a fleet of brand new 100% autonomous and electric “Navya arma” vehicles.

BestMile has already made the news last spring for its active role in the CityMobil2 European project in Lausanne. Inaugurated by the Swiss and French presidents on April 15th 2015, this experiment demonstrated the added value and robustness of BestMile fleet management software. Conducted on EPFL campus with a fleet of six “EasyMile” driverless vehicles, this project carried more than 7’000 people and marked the achievement of autonomous mobility on-demand.

Interoperability of its technology allows BestMile to work with different manufacturers of intelligent vehicles as well as to participate in international commercial projects. A first project is already confirmed for November 2015 with an important Swiss public transport operator. Other partnerships will be announced in the coming months.
