Redalpine announces that Swiss online-travel-pioneer Roland Zeller joins the team as a partner as of October 2014. After establishing Redalpine Capital I (in 2007) and Redalpine Capital II (in 2012), the Redalpine team plans to launch a new sector-specific fund, focused on innovative startups in the travel and tourism industry in 2015.

Roland Zeller comes with a wealth of experience and looks back on an outstanding career in various positions in the travel industry. He was among the first in Switzerland to sell travel products online and later founded the online-travel-agency travel.ch, which he successfully sold to Swiss tour-operator Hotelplan in 2012. Besides this, Roland invested in more than 10 startup companies as a business angel and was the first investor in the award-winning travel startup Getyourguide in 2008.

Peter Niederhauser, founding-partner of Redalpine is excited about this development: „ Roland Zeller adds profound know-how of travel, internet and startup-investments to the Redalpine-Team“.

New travel-fund to be launched
Redalpine plans to launch a new sector-specific fund, focused on innovative startups in the travel and tourism industry in 2015. Having already shown impressive growth rates in the past, the travel and tourism sectors continue to grow strongly on a global scale, as the traditional value-chains in tourism are being disrupted and intermediated by digital processes. New innovative players, like AirBnb, Getyourguide and Uber are changing the way we plan and book travel. The aim of the new fund is to find and invest into disruptive business-models in this highly attractive sector.

Michael Sidler, founding-partner of Redalpine says: „Travel is a huge, global market, which will offer attractive investment opportunities in the next 5-10 years. Together with Roland Zeller we can leverage this opportunity”.
