Gbanga, the innovative Swiss games creator and UBS developed «Quiz and Fly», a game app that tests the knowledge of both young and old.

UBS is launching an innovative game app in the area of edutainment. The «Quiz and Fly» application entertains, while at the same time playfully improving the players' knowledge. Users answer quiz questions on topics such as finance, sport, music and UBS while controlling an interactive flight simulation. This combination makes the application appealing to occasional players of all ages. To succeed in this game, users need to be skilled at operating their smartphone or tablet. They can also submit their own questions thus contributing to actively shape «Quiz and Fly».

Patrick Kramer, Head of E-Channel Strategy at UBS, explains: "The aim of 'Quiz and Fly' is to encourage people across all age groups to learn more about UBS's mobile and digital offering. We want people to have fun and learn something new. So why not download the app and get ready for take-off?"

"Quiz and Fly" was presented on 17 October at the TEDxZurich conference – a Swiss version of the renowned TED ideas conference from California. The game will be initially available in Switzerland in four languages. It runs on both iOS and Android and can now be downloaded free of charge from the appstores of Apple and Google Play.

Development of the app
«Quiz and Fly» was created in collaboration with Gbanga, the innovative Swiss games creator. The start-up has already created mixed-reality games for various industries. "We wanted to develop a game that both our grandmothers and nephews would enjoy playing. 'Quiz and Fly' is unusual because it brings the real world to displays, and because games are still a novelty for banks," says Matthias Sala, the co-founder and CEO of Gbanga.

Introductory competition
Users collect coins as they fly and with every correct answer they earn air miles. This allows them to try out new destinations and aircraft simulators. The ranking list shows users how they stand compared with other players. A special incentive is planned for the game's introduction: until 7 December 2014, players may win a journey to a destination of their choice.
