1600 start-ups from all around the world applied for the Investor Day at the Pioneers Festival taking place end of May in Vienna. Only 50 companies were selected. Two of them are from Switzerland: Bestmile and Nanolive.
Pioneers Festival aims to show how technology and startups will change the world. It is a major Festival for future tech and entrepreneurship. Since 2012 it has brought together the smartest startups with investors, as well as corporates and media eager to support the next big thing. More than 1,600 startups from 90+ countries applied to meet over 400 investors in the Hofburg Imperial Palace, Vienna. The Festival is limited to 2,500 participants who will learn from the best and get inspired by Keynotes that will introduce what to expect in the following years.
The event starts with an Investor Day, held this year on 27 May. 1600 start-ups from 98 countries applied but only 50 were selected to pitch to investors at the event. 400 of the World’s leading Tech Investors will be present for example representative from Google Ventures, Index Ventures, Wellington Partners, Accel Partners or Balderton Capital.
Two companies from Switzerland were selected:
Bestmile is a start-up active in developing solutions and services for urban mobility. These offers are designed to manage any vehicle fleet which brings a solution to the last mile problem. At the moment the system is tested with a public transport system composed of autonomous vehicles on the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology’s campus in Lausanne.
Nanolive is in the business of research and development of new techniques for cell imaging. Its heart consists of a disruptive proprietary technology, holographic tomography: a laser-based cell tomography system combined with a powerful algorithm that, for the first time ever, allows the exploration of the interior of a living cell in 3D without modifying and thus damaging it.
