Business concept courses teach members of universities how to transform an idea into a business concept. At an event at ETH Zurich we caught a glimpse of the courses and their participants.

Business concept courses are a part of the CTI Entrepreneurship Training and address members of universities (students, doctoral students, postdocs, research fellows at universities and universities of applied science including research institutions) and teach them to think and act like an entrepreneur, how to transform an idea into a business concept and gain theoretical and practical expertise to play multiple key roles in a start-up, or to set up a new company. The semester courses are taking place all over Switzerland.

Startupticker had the chance to talk to participants, coaches and organizers at an event called “Startup Campus Connect” at ETH Zurich. The event was part of the Business Concept courses of the consortium Zurich East which is organizing the courses on behalf of CTI Entrepreneurship and brought together the participants with members of the start-up ecosystem ranging from Zürcher Kantonalbank, to Technopark Allinace, Impact Hub Zurich, Blue Lion / Startzentrum and supporters such as IFJ and Startups.ch.

After a thought provoking keynote presentation from Prof. Dr. Roman Boutellier, the representatives of the ecosystem provided introductory talks about a range of topics including startup incubators, financing and further training. The future business men and women pitched their own projects, made interesting acquaintances and found like-minded people. Hugo Zimmermann, responsible for the CTI Entrepreneurship Training at CTI, commented: “The format of the event – a kind of marketplace – was very successful in making the start-up ecosystem attractive for the young entrepreneurs.”

The event was one of the last of the semester course. However the dates for the next courses are published and you can already apply. You will find the dates for the courses in Zurich and Eastern Switzerland on the website of Startup Campus. Dates of all courses plus information about all modules of the CTI Entrepreneurship Training can be found on the website of CTI Entrepreneurship.
