Eight start-ups selected for the Swiss Venture Day in Zurich

As always the companies selected for the Swiss Venture Day on 11 June are very different. However this time there are two clear focal points: ICT and diagnostics.

These are busy weeks for CTI Invest. on Monday the 2nd Swiss Venture Day in Berlin took place and in two weeks CTI Invest is co-organizing the Investors Forum St. Gallen. And on 11 June a Swiss Venture Day will be held in Zurich. The list with the selected companies has now been published. Eight companies active in IT and in diagnostics will pitch to investors. In the morning an Angel Day will be held. This time the topic of the interactive workshop is: “Winning talents and assessing them“. The selected companies for the Swiss Venture Day are:

Meteomatics focuses on all aspects around weather and IT services. This includes especially the provision of any weather data and any consulting services around weather models and technologies. But this covers also the very hands-on implementation of customized solutions. The services of the start-up reach out into nearly any branch in industry that shows a dependency on weather information.

Lunaphore has developed an innovative tumor analysis and classification platform with the potential to be a disruptive alternative to classical immunohistochemistry. Lunaphore’s products can perform such analysis within 5 minutes when compared to current standards of 2 to 8 hours, and the obtained biomarker diagnosis results are 90% more accurate compared to current methods. The results are validated by published clinical studies.

SDK BioTechnologies creates detection platforms improving accuracy and efficiency in the field of healthcare and in the industries focused on the quality and safety of water, food and beverage products and services. As its first product, SDK is commercializing a high sensitivity label-free detection system for measurement of biochemical reactions in real time.

Cardiovascular disease due to vascular and soft tissue calcification is a major cause of death worldwide. CALCISCO is developing and marketing the first and only diagnostic test available to determine calcification propensity in blood samples. This offers exciting, new opportunities for the early detection of patients with an elevated risk of calcification, and for the direction and monitoring of their treatment.

InSphero is the leading supplier of organotypic 3D microtissues for highly predictive drug testing. The start-up now wants to leverage its technology for the personalized medicine market. A new spin-off – Insphero Diagnostics – will provide a Personalized Tumor Kit allowing for more relevant and more efficient biological testing of the patient’s tumor against the broadest scope of anti-cancer drugs and drug combinations.

FASHWELL is a spin-off of ETH Zurich and closing the gap between seeing a product and finding a product in an online shop. With the app users take pictures of pieces of clothing. The intelligent software then finds similar articles in online shops. At the moment FASHWELL aggregates already over 700’000 fashion items from around 50 online shops.

Goodwall brings together all the stories of people doing good and highlights the best to inspire others to follow their footsteps. Goodwall is not “just another social network”: it promotes real, concrete actions that push humanity forward. The network allows students to showcase the good they do in a sort of Pre-LinkedIn profile. This helps distinguish themselves for university or a first job.
