First Open Air Hackathon in Switzerland

Tipiù launches Hack the City, the first Swiss open-air hackathon. The event will take place at the end of August in Chiasso. Participants can win more than CHF 10,000 in prize money.

A hackathon is an event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development and hardware development, including graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, collaborate intensively on software projects. The first open air hackathon in Switzerland will take place from 28 to 30 August in Chiasso.

“Hack the City” is organized by Tipiù, the e-mag that shares stories about entrepreneurship, technology and innovation from Southern Switzerland. “Hack the City has been launched to prove that we, in Ticino, also have great talents”, explains Ryan Vannin, co-founder of Tipiù and organizer of the event. Developers, designers, makers and other people involved in technology, entrepreneurship and innovation are warmly encouraged to attend. The have 48 hours to find ideas and to create or develop amazing projects to submit to a panel of experts.

The value of the prizes is above CHF 10'000 thanks to Tipiù, BancaStato, AGE and CP Start-Up. A special prize for multimedia projects will be awarded by RSI Radiotelevisione Svizzera.

Hack the City begins at 6PM on Friday, 28 August and ends at 8PM on Sunday, 30 August 2015. The event will be in Piazza Indipendenza and along Corso S. Gottardo in Chiasso.

Registrations’ deadline to attend Hack the City is: August 26th, at 11:59PM.
